The Adventures of Rene & Glumfoot continue in - The Thieves Beneath the Floorboards, a picture book for 3+

A tale of chef vs mouse, pancake-flipped on its head. Firstly, the mice are in fact a species of highly intelligent miniature bears. These pigmy bears, the bear-me-pigs, (compared to figs, they’re fairly big) had built their burrow long before Rene came and plonked her café on top of it. She is, in fact, the invasive species. It’s full of fun twists, turns, time jumps, elaborate traps, cute animals, and moves rapidly along, with all the humour and heart you can expect from Rene and Glumfoot.

The Thieves Beneath the Floorboards was inspired by an incident on my parents-in-law's farm, where muntjacs kept on attacking their lovely garden. These are kind of weird-looking half-pig, half-deer creatures. Almost mythical, one might say. And I wondered what other miniature half-this, half-that creatures might be lurking out there. It’s a story about sharing spaces, and I’m thrilled that as of September 10th 2026, it’ll be out there in the world, solving all its problems.
