ZERO GREG: The FULCRUM KING
FEATURE FILM DEVELOPMENT
Way back in 2014 I persuaded Film 4 & Warp Films to commission me to write a script for an animated feature film about a young boy unaffected by gravity. I also made a bunch of visual material, which you can see here, including maps, mechanism diagrams, a fake wikipedia page for ‘Red Mercury’ (the liquid agent of gravity, of course!) and a short pitch trailer. Surprised by a deadline I didn’t know that I had, I built and animated this trailer over one week, on a hotel desk in Tokyo. Can you tell? Yes, you can. The film went through several phases of development, first being set in contemporary London and later in the fictional medieval realm of ‘Fulcrum’. Ultimately, Film 4 decided they no longer wanted to develop any family animated features. The rights have come back to me, so if anyone wants to make a coming of age movie about a young boy who’s built like a house and light as a feather, send me a pigeon!
